This outdoor festival adorns the Arboretum with artistic displays that will feed your senses and your imagination. This year, the Autumn at the Arboretum Festival is inspired by “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” and great it is, indeed. The display utilizes no less than 150,000 flowers and 90,000 gourds, squashes, and pumpkins to build the Pumpkin Village for Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang. Autumn at the Arboretum runs from September 21 to October 31. Though you can purchase tickets on-site, you’ll get a discount on parking when you purchase online.

Visiting a pumpkin patch is a sweet and simple way to step out of the city, get grounded, and experience the abundance of the harvest season in North Dallas. Alongside fields spotted with gourds and pumpkins of all shapes, colors, and sizes, many pumpkin patches also offer corn mazes, hayrides, petting barns, games, and many perfect backdrops for photos and selfies. Our top three include The Big Orange Pumpkin Farm in Gunter, Storybook Ranch in McKinney, and Team Family Farms in Aubrey.

High school football is as Texas as bluebonnets, nachos, and the Alamo we’ll never forget. Even if you don’t have any high schoolers yourself, going to a high school football game is an excellent way to immerse yourself in a sense of community, network with your neighbors, and support your local marching band, drill team, cheer squad, and football team. Plano, Texas, is home to six high school teams (Clark, Jasper, McMillen, Shepton, Vines, and Williams) and three senior high school teams (Plano East, Plano Senior, and Plano West).

It’s hard to beat an easy-going evening of local art, unique wines, and live music on a crisp autumn evening (or any second Thursday from April to December, really). Your ticket ($15 online or $20 at the door) includes a commemorative wine glass, a tasting card, and a wine guide for the 20 or so wine stops you’ll enjoy at every walk. The remaining Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walks include Dia de los Muertos (October 10), Alma Mater (November 14), and Winter Onesie-land (December 12).

If wine isn’t quite your thing or you’re looking for something that better suits your whole family, you may find your match in the free Oktoberfest-style event hosted by the Historic Downtown Plano Association on October 25th and 26th. Steinfest is a dog-friendly and family-friendly event that celebrates fall with art, live music, high-quality beer, German-inspired cuisine, games, a petting zoo, and a canine fashion show (obviously). Lederhosen and dirndln welcome!

An annual Halloween event at the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, Boo Bash is hosted by Plano Parks and Rec and offers a fun night of costumes, candy, and carnival games for kids 12 and under and their parents. This year’s Boo Bash takes place on October 24th from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., and is free when you bring a canned food item to donate to a local food bank.

For date night and family night alike, Pumpkin Nights is a unique and spook-free way to enjoy the magic of the Halloween season. Pumpkin Nights features over 3,000 hand-carved pumpkin sculptures that are used to transform a half-mile walking path at the historic Howell Farms into something fantastical, wonderful, and mysterious (think 40-foot-long dragon and a pirate ship). Pumpkin Nights, which runs most nights between October 10th and November 3rd, also features local artists, entertainment, games, and music. Tickets are available online only and start at $14, with family passes available (children 3 and under are welcome for free).

We know you must be thinking, “Only a dentist would add this to a list of fun fall activities!” Though once you consider the benefits a trip to the dentist brings to your mouth, gums, and teeth, we know you (and your smile) will completely agree.

When your smile is healthy, beautiful, and clean, you’re more likely to share it with your friends, colleagues, or the new acquaintances you meet during the above seven activities! Not to mention, seeing Dr. Harrison now means you won’t have to worry about the health or appearance of your teeth in the midst of the bustling holiday season. Instead, you can simply offer your smile to those you meet, and smile with confidence for your holiday photos and social feeds.

No matter the season or color of leaves, Millennium DDS is honored to be your “best dentist near me” in Plano, Texas.
