In the grand scheme of things, Plano, Texas, has a relatively small population of around 286,000 people, but with a thriving economy, safe neighborhoods, and excellent schools, it’s ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States.

Plano is home to some of the biggest global brands, including Dell, Dr. Pepper, JC Penney, Frito-Lay, and Pizza Hut, but there are also some local businesses that are putting this little town with a big heart on the map, from fitness and food to dentists and kiddies’ play areas, they all offer a world-class service with good old Southern hospitality.

Cheeky Monkeys Indoor Play Area

Got little ones that need something different to do on the weekend? Why not try Cheeky Monkeys Indoor Play Area on Preston Road? Having already won several awards, this soft play area is perfect for children from 10 months old to eight years of age.

The venue has a safe ball pit for toddlers to explore as well as a five-level play area with climbers, trampolines, and slides for older children. There is an arts and crafts garden, open gym, block station, and Cheeky Monkeys also runs kid-friendly camps and classes. The indoor play area hosts birthday parties for groups of 15 to 100.

With free Wi-Fi, and hot and cold drinks and snacks available on the premises, parents and carers can relax, knowing their children are safe and secure.

Sugar Pine Creamery

Sugar Pine Creamery is one of the area’s newest local businesses but it has already been nominated for a Best of Plano 2019 award. And it’s easy to see why. The specialty store offers soft-serve connoisseurs different flavors every week, and there’s pretty much something to suit every sweet tooth out there.

Think dark chocolate hazelnut, chili chocolate, toasted marshmallow, avocado, and coffee. There are even dairy-free options available. But the choices don’t stop there. There are different flavored handmade cones to choose from as well as the most incredible toppings, including potato chips (don’t knock it until you try it) and puffed quinoa. They also have a selection of boba milk teas and flavored iced teas.

If you want to tickle your tastebuds, we suggest you give it a try.

The Hair Parlour

Another new kid on the block is the Hair Parlour. Although they’ve only been around since 2017, they’re changing the way the people of Plano are thinking about their hair

Services available include coloring, texturing, cutting and styling, and the staff is friendly and extremely qualified. Owner, Jacki Maher, loves that her team comes from different backgrounds and studied at different schools. Each one brings something different to the salon, and they’re trained in the latest techniques such as sombres, color melting, ombres, and balayage.

For your convenience, the salon is open from 9 am until 6 pm during the week, and from 8 am until 5 pm on Saturdays. While bookings are preferred, Plano’s favorite hair parlor accepts walk-ins too.

If you want to look and feel your absolute best, we suggest you make your appointment today.
